Lake Tahoe is a Ghost Town in May

Six months after meeting my boyfriend, I got to be his plus one to one of his best friend’s weddings. The couple had the amazing idea of holding their wedding in Lake Tahoe between the winter skiing season and the summer hiking/boating/camping season. The wedding was held at the Squaw Valley Olympic Village and because of the low demand most guests were able to stay in site at an affordable rate. My boyfriend and I shared a suite with two other couples. Wedding Guests spent the entirety of their stay in the village.

We flew in from Florida and had a layover in Reno, NV where we rented a car and the drive from Reno was short and scenic. When we arrived we went for a short hike. Later we went to a happy hour on a pub inside the village.

The wedding was outside at the foot of the mountains, which made for great photos.

The reception venue had large windows opening to the mountain side, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the view. It got pretty cold pretty quickly once the sun set, so I was excited to get inside. Next time I visit I will be sure to see the lake.
